Mike Canales
Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital

  2010 VSHE President

Mike has spent the last 23 years working in the healthcare environment in clinical engineering and facility services.  He currently also serves as the safety officer for Shore Memorial Hospital. He is a 9 year member of ASHE with Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) certification.  Mike has served as a board member of VSHE for the past four years, the past two years as Vice President. Mike has completed NIMS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, & 800 certifications and is very active in the ongoing dialogue of emergency preparedness in healthcare.  Mike and his wife Lori of 22 years live on the Eastern Shore of Virginia with his eight children.  Mike is also very active in his church and community.  He is the current President of his home owners association in which he has served for the past 5 years. He currently sits on the broadband and waste water management teams for the Eastern Shore of Virginia.  Mike is an avid runner and cyclist who is committed to playing a role in improving the health and wellness of the community and organizations he serves. 

     


John Christodoulides, Ph. D., P.E.M
Carilion Clinic

  2010 VSHE Vice President

John graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a B.S. in Naval Architecture, M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, M.S. in Marine Engineering, M.S. in Transportation Management and Ph. D. in Structural Mechanics. He is a Certified Professional Energy Manager. John has held numerous engineering and management positions in the defense industry including key assignments in the design and production of weapons systems for the US Navy Aegis fleet. He served as Vehicle Engineering Manager for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority responsible for modernization and procurement of new subway cars and buses.

John has 14 years experience in design, construction, project and property management for the Carilion Health System. He oversees construction of major hospital and outpatient projects averaging $45m annually, and manages over 2m sq ft of facilities. He was the Co-founder of the VSHE Blue Ridge Chapter in 2008.  Treasurer of the MIT Blue Ridge Alumni Association, and long time fund raiser for United Way Roanoke Valley.

     


Joe Morris
Virtexco

  2010 VSHE Treasurer
Joe P. Morris is the Senior Project Manager at VIRTEXCO Corporation with over 35 years of construction experience. He has been working on Healthcare projects for approximately 17 years and has many contacts within the Healthcare Facilities and Design organizations throughout the Tidewater Area. Joe has been a member of VSHE and ASHE since 2006. He is committed to always improve upon his awareness, knowledge and understanding of the Healthcare construction environment.
     


Miriam DaSilva
Damuth Trane

  2010 VSHE Communications Chairperson
Miriam DaSilva is the Healthcare Account Representative for the Healthcare Team at Damuth Trane.  Her position allows her to be in contact with many healthcare facility managers throughout Hampton Roads and Northeast North Carolina.  Miriam has been a member of VSHE since it's inception in 2007 and assisted Geoff Pierce as the Membership Chairman during that year. In 2008, she was nominated and elected for the Communications Chairperson and has held the position since then.

Geoff Pierce is the Healthcare Vertical Market Leader at Damuth Trane. With over 35 years experience in the heating and air conditioning industry, Geoff has developed relationships within the Healthcare market at both the operational and top administrative levels. He continues to establish new relationships and retain valuable information about Healthcare design and construction changes to maintain growth in this market. Geoff has been an active member of VSHE since 2007, he is also affiliated with AHA, ASHE, VHHA, ACHE, and NFPA.
     


Rebecca Vance

  2010 VSHE Membership Chairperson

Rebecca Vance graduated with a B.S Advertising & Public Relations degree from Liberty University in Lynchburg VA in 2007.  Rebecca currently is the Marketing Director for Dusty Ducts Inc.  in Forest, VA. Dusty Ducts is a company committed to improving indoor air quality and riding the air of potentially harmful air pollutants.  Rebecca is very active in her church and community. Mrs. Vance is an active member of the Virginia Society of Healthcare Engineer's Association. She also serves as a coordinator of the VSHE 2010 Tradeshow which showcases those companies committed to servicing the Healthcare Industry as a whole, and affiliation with the North Carolina & West Virginia Society of Healthcare Engineers Associations.  She is also actively involved with the YCCP (Virginia Young Professionals) and the Liberty University Student Alumni Association & Mentoring Program.  She also enjoys running half marathons and outdoor activities and designs ladies fashion accessories in her spare time.
