Society Mission
The Virginia Society of Healthcare Engineers is the local chapter affiliated with the American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE).
The primary mission is to improve and enhance our local healthcare facilities infrastructure, operations and maintenance through planning, education, cooperation, advocacy and design innovation.
The society meets the second Monday of every month and provides a forum for our healthcare and professional affiliate members to discuss important topics that affect our local healthcare facilities such as:
- licensure and codes issues
- design and construction standards
- construction costs
- plant operations and maintenance
Our meetings provide a good opportunity to see presentations by local vendors.
Upcoming Events
January Meeting
Date: Monday, January 12, 2009
Time: 4:00 PM
Location: Hosted by Compo @ Lafayette Shores - address TBA
Description: Many engineers and contractors have shied away from using post-tensioning as the framing system thinking that it does not allow for easy modifications. This presentation will address how to safely modify existing structures that have a post-tensioned framing system and how bonded post-tensioning can be used in new construction to provide design advantages, as well as to create a "modification-friendly structure".
