Description: Integrated Project Delivery - While all other non-farm industries have seen large boosts in productivity, the construction industry, as a whole, has suffered from a productivity decline since the 1960s. Buildings are often behind schedule and over budget, with the root cause being adversarial relations among the owner, construction manager, designers and subcontractors created by a contractual system with a "me first" mindset.
The Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) method solves this problem by bringing all participants together early, with collaborative incentives for all team member to maximize value for the owner. The close collaboration generated through the IPD process elimates a great deal of waste in the design and allows data sharing directly between teh design and construction team, eliminating a large barrier to increased productivity in construction.
