Belinda Currin, AIA, ACHA, CHFM, CHC, NCARB

VSHE Conference Co-Chair

Belinda is a dual degreed graduate of UNC-Charlotte, College of Architecture and a Board Certified Healthcare Architect per the American College of Healthcare Architects with over 22 years of experience, spending much of her career focusing on healthcare facility planning, programming, design, medical equipment/ systems coordination and construction. She has proven experience in all aspects of the design process, with a deep expertise in full design/ engineering and construction with a heavy emphasis in construction having worked in the construction field for almost a decade before entering professional practice. Her passion is being the link between the design team, the clinical users, medical equipment providers and the construction team while framing the process within or below the predetermined budget and schedule. Her value to your project’s process is a marked intense dedication to quality control and attention to detail, while providing a realistic approach to design, construction and their phasing coordination.

Belinda is a long standing, active member of VSHE and ASHE with her commitment to healthcare facility design and construction illustrated by achieving the CHFM and CHC designations as well as completed training in Infection Control Planning and Prevention. She believes that the healthcare facility is a “living and ever changing environment” with the understanding that patient centered design, efficient clinical functionality and understanding the components and maintenance of the infrastructure is a three legged stool in which each component depends on the other.

After almost 20 years working within major healthcare A/E design firms as a Certified Healthcare Architect, she forged ahead to begin her own woman owned small business healthcare architecture consulting firm in 2013, Currin Design Consulting, LLC, continuing to practice daily in both medical and behavioral healthcare as an owner’s advocate, performing peer reviews of ongoing design/ construction projects; a design pioneer in improving the patient experience and clinical environments through design, planning and programming as well as actively coordinating with construction trades in field condition problem solving, demonstrating flexibility and expedited solution development.
