VSHE ANNUAL AWARDS

Award Details

The VSHE Awards are an opportunity to recognize and showcase extraordinary efforts within the Virginia Healthcare Engineering industry. Offered annually, the VSHE Awards Ceremony is held at our Annual Conference.

When to Apply

The application for the 2025 VSHE Awards are now open. Applications will be accepted until 5pm ET on March 27, 2026. All applicants will be notified about the status of their applications by email prior to the awards ceremony. 

Application Process

• Review the Awards categories (below) carefully to fully understand the qualifiers of each
• Complete the corresponding online application with the Award you are interested in/nominating someone

The VSHE Board will judge applicants on predetermined criteria. Each application will be reviewed blindly and ranked by the selection committee based on these qualifiers.

EMERGING LEADER (Crystal Eagle Leadership Award)

The Emerging Leader Award recognizes an individual who has made significant contributions to the Organization and the industry and has demonstrated the potential for leadership and continuing service.

Eligibility:

• New and future leaders actively employed in healthcare facility and responsible for facility operations
• Less than 10 years’ industry experience
• Demonstrates leadership skills, exemplary commitment to VSHE and ASHE
• Demonstrates capacity as a future leader
• Respected within and outside of VSHE
• Must be member in good standing with VSHE and/or ASHE for a minimum of 2 year

The honoree will receive:

• Commemorative plaque
• One (1) registration to the VSHE Annual Conference
• One (1) registration to the VSHE Annual Conference Reception
• 1-year paid VSHE membership
• One (1) registration to the 2023 ASHE Annual Conference (with per diem)
• Recognition on VSHE communications (website, newsletter, and social media)

EXCELLENCE IN HEALTHCARE FACILITIES MANAGEMENT AWARD (TEAMWORK)

The Teamwork Award recognizes a team for an initiative, program, or other healthcare engineering effort where two or more members went above and beyond in delivering services in healthcare. (Should come from an event that took place at one of your facilities.)

Eligibility:

• Company / Team connected to the healthcare industry, either as a healthcare organization, vendor, or non-profit with at least one VSHE or ASHE member (must be in good standing)
• Demonstrated extraordinary effort to improve, protect, complete, and/or support the healthcare environment
• Respected within and outside of VSHE

The honorees will receive:

• Commemorative plaque
• Registration to the VSHE Annual Conference (up to 2 team members)
• Registration to the VSHE Annual Conference Reception for team (up to 6 team members)
• Recognition on VSHE communications (website, newsletter, and social media)

VISTA AWARD

The Vista Award recognizes design and construction professionals and other individuals working with the design and construction of hospitals, ambulatory care facilities, long-term care facilities, and medical buildings who are at the forefront of innovation.

         Eligibility:

• Project must have been completed between January 1, 2023 and December 31, 2023.
• Projects must have a minimum of six months post-occupancy or post-completion data.
• Project can be New Construction, Renovation, or Infrastructure related. Only one submission per project type per facility is allowed.
• Any of the following will deem an entry ineligible:
• Failure to adhere to the instructions and guidelines of the award process
• Lack of team representation or lack of support from the health care facility
• Use of watermarks or other distracting graphic elements
• Commercial endorsements
• Testimonials
• Incomplete application/submission

          The honoree will receive:

• Commemorative plaque
• Registration to the VSHE Annual Conference (up to 2 team members)
• Registration to the VSHE Annual Conference for team (up to 6 team members)
• Recognition on VSHE communications (website, newsletter, and social media)

OUTSTANDING VENDOR AWARD

The Outstanding Vendor Award recognizes a vendor company that is making significant contributions in support of VSHE and to its community through time, actions, talents, and dedication.

Eligibility:

• Company connected to the healthcare industry, either as a healthcare organization, vendor, or non-profit with at least one VSHE or ASHE member
• Active supporter of and in good standing with VSHE for a minimum of 3 years
• Demonstrated extraordinary support of the community and Organization
• Respected within and outside of VSHE

The honoree will receive:

• Commemorative plaque
• One (1) Registration to the VSHE Annual Conference
• One (1) Registration to the VSHE Annual Conference Reception
• 1-year paid VSHE membership
• Recognition on VSHE communications (website, newsletter, and social media)

PRESIDENT

The President’s Award recognizes an individual in the industry who embodies the values of VSHE, by not only being a professional success but also providing outstanding service in support of VSHE.

Eligibility:

• Active and in good standing VSHE member for minimum of 2 years
• Demonstrated individual efforts and extraordinary support
• Demonstrated leadership skills, exemplary commitment to VSHE and ASHE
• Respected within and outside of VSHE
• Nominated by VSHE Leadership. The President’s Award nominations are from the Board of Directors. Please complete the final nomination if you are a member of the Board of Directors.

The honoree will receive:

• Commemorative plaque
• One (1) Registration to the VSHE Annual Conference
• One (1) Registration to the VSHE Annual Conference Reception
• 1-year paid VSHE membership
• Recognition on VSHE communications (website, newsletter, and social media)
